Very Charming - Origini Cafe

Hubby and I had a lovely lunch at Origini, (which is pronounced or-ridge-iny, I asked!). For those of you who may remember it's the old Run Sushi Run, (sigh), and the cafe is tiny but it has a fantastic garden out the back, which is where we sat.

First up, the coffee. It was very nice, strong and smooth. The soy milk was heated just right and wasn't over foamed. So that was a big tick straight off the mark.

Very simple, limited menu, which I prefer to a 'we do everything in the world' type of menu. It's all very provincial with high quality ingredients. Both Hubby and I had a piadina, he had the roasted vegetable one and I went for the classic ham with provolone and truss tomatoes.

We both decided that whilst they were excellent, in a way the quality of the ingredients was wasted by being toasted. I mean, toasted cheese is yummy whether it's an imported provolone or coon singles. I feel it would have been more special to have offered the same dishes but served on fresh Italian or French style bread, and we certainly have great local bakeries in the area.

Definitely a great place to go to, and I look forward to going again. Apart from the fine food and coffee, you have the atmosphere. The owner brings an enthusiastic energy to the cafe. He is Italian and has that brilliant European sensibility when it comes to hospitality, as in - he gets it. So high points from me all around.

Is it a Great Eat? Yes
