Have you been to Bells Belles lately? It has to be one of the grooviest stores we have in Castlemaine. Run and founded by the lovely and chic Leah, everything about the store is perfection. Every nook and cranny is a study in whimsy. In foodie land there is the concept of amuse bouche (little morsels that delight the palate), and Leah's store is the style equivalent of that, whatever that might be!
It's very easy to get lost, (timewise that is),wandering through the homewares section of the shop as Leah has clothes, jewellery, accessories, bric a brac, furniture, you retro name it and she retro has it.However she has quite recently opened an espresso bar in a separate, yet connected, section of the store. We went and checked it out today and were very impressed. The soy lattes were great; as a soy drinker herself Leah clearly knows what she's doing here. Plus I had a very delicious chocolate torte that came with a warm mocha sauce, YUM! The torte was light and sort of silky and the sauce was just the right texture, sort of velvety, even though I know that doesn't really make sense. The only reason I don't have pics of that is that my camera decided it needed a rest, but that's fine with me as it gives me an excuse to go back! For the moment Leah is offering coffee and cake but with a full kitchen at her disposal she intends to extend her cafe's offerings, which I for one am looking forward to!
Is it a Great Eat? Most definitely!
